Years 7-9 at Aquinas College are about transition.
Middle School students are developing from young boys into young men and our curriculum is specifically designed to support the boys as they progress through this period of change.
There is a breadth of academic activities which offer boys engaging and diverse learning opportunities to develop and explore interests. These enable students to make decisions on future subject selections based on their own experiences.
Our teaching philosophy encourages all boys to strive for their personal best. Our innovative extension program challenges academically-gifted boys so they always find work engaging. Those who may be developing in certain areas are also given the support and assistance they need to reach their full potential.
Academically gifted students are challenged in the St Thomas Aquinas Program which promotes excellence in thinking with the EDGE (Environments Designed for Gifted Extension) program of extension-based activities. Through problem solving and interest-based learning, boys develop their critical thinking skills and creative talents. The program is offered on the basis of academic achievement and extends from Year 7 to Year 9.
From Year 10 to Year 12, students can choose from a diverse range of courses appropriate totheir interests. These include the ability to gain university entry through ATAR study, or hands-on work experience through VET course options.
Whatever your son decides, our teaching staff will help him achieve his personal best.
