Scholarships

At Aquinas College, we believe in supporting and encouraging talented students. Our scholarships are designed to reward and recognise students who strive for excellence in their chosen field and contribute positively to the College community.

Students must meet specific academic, musical, or all-round criteria and submit a scholarship application by the specified deadline.

Aquinas College Scholarships are granted at the discretion of the College Principal and are subject to annual review. This review process evaluates the student's performance, attitude, and contribution to ensure continuous improvement.

The scholarships are open to current Aquinas College students and external applicants.

To be eligible for consideration, the applicant must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.

Academic Excellence Scholarships for Entering Into Year 4 in 2025

Academic Excellence Scholarships are given to students who have shown outstanding performance in their academic pursuits.

Scholarships are open to both students currently enrolled at Aquinas College and external applicants.

These scholarships provide partial remission of up to 50% off tuition fees and are applicable for the entire duration of a student's education but are subject to an annual review.

The selection process involves the review of the scholarship examination, academic school reports and Year 3 NAPLAN (once released). Short-listed applicants will be interviewed by the Head of Junior School.

Academic Scholarships are given to students who have shown outstanding performance in their academic pursuits.

General Excellence Scholarships are awarded to students who have excelled in a particular area of interest and have demonstrated service in the community.

Academic and General Scholarships are open to both students currently enrolled at Aquinas College and external applicants.

These scholarships provide partial remission of up to 50% off tuition fees and are applicable for the entire duration of a student's education but are subject to an annual review.

The selection process involves the review of the scholarship examination, academic school reports, NAPLAN and a handwritten reflection. Short-listed applicants will be interviewed by the College Principal.

CLOSED > Music Scholarships - Instrumental or Pipe Organ for Entry into Year 7 - Year 10 in 2025

At Aquinas College, music holds a significant place in the life of the school and its community. The school recognises the importance of music in a student's overall development and offers a range of opportunities for students to engage with music in various forms, from performances to competitions to music classes and workshops. Aquinas College provides a vibrant and supportive environment for young musicians to explore and develop their musical talents.

Music Scholarships are open to both students currently enrolled at Aquinas College and external applicants.

Music students are expected to sit the academic testing and complete an audition.

To be eligible for consideration, the applicant must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident.

Music Scholarships - Instrumental

Music Scholarships – Instrumental, are awarded to candidates who demonstrate significant musical ability and potential as well as a willingness to commit to substantial involvement in Aquinas’ music program.

The Music Scholarships provide partial remission up to 50% off tuition and 100% off instrument tuition (30-minute lessons for Years 7-10 and 60-minute lessons for Years 11-12). Instrumental students will have 100% off the hire of their instrument. These scholarships are applicable for the entire duration of a student's education but are subject to an annual review.

The number of Music Scholarships and the amount in fee reduction are awarded at the discretion of the Principal and Head of Arts.

Music Scholarship holders are required to uphold the following requirements for the duration of their scholarship:

  • maintain a high level of achievement on their musical instrument;
  • be a member of and play a leading role in at least one instrumental ensemble appropriate to their instrument;
  • be a member of at least one choral ensemble;
  • take Music as a class subject (year-long courses) and maintain a high level of achievement up until at least Year 10 (whilst they are strongly encouraged to enrol in ATAR Music in Year 11 and 12, it is not a requirement);
  • be actively involved in Aquinas Music concerts, recitals, festivals, excursions and camps; and
  • maintain good academic and behavioural standing across all areas of schooling.

The selection process involves the review of the audition, scholarship examination, academic school reports, NAPLAN and a written reflection. Short-listed applicants will be interviewed by the principal.

Music Scholarships – Pipe Organ

Pipe Organ Scholarships will provide a unique opportunity for students to learn on the Aquinas College Chapel pipe organ.

Students who are currently playing piano or organ to a standard of 3rd Grade AMEB or higher are encouraged to apply.

For this scholarship, the College will provide partial remission up to 50% off tuition school fees and full instrumental tuition fees for organ lessons for the duration of the student’s time at the College, subject to an annual review.

Organ Scholars are required to:

  • demonstrate continuous progress in organ studies
  • When sufficiently advanced, to occasionally play for College masses and chapel services

CLOSED > Music Scholarships - Schola Cantorum for Entry into Year 4 in 2025

Gifted choristers or potential choristers are invited to apply for a highly sought - after position in the prestigious Aquinas College Schola Cantorum.

Schola Cantorum applicants are welcome to apply for the Instrumental and Pipe Organ Scholarships

A typical week for a member of this ensemble involves:

• Rehearsals 4 mornings per week

• College Chapel services (2-3 services per week)

• Theory class;

• Individual Vocal lesson

• Singing at Mass at St Patrick’s Basilica (Fremantle) on Saturday evenings during term

The Schola also perform regularly with external organisations including WASO, UWA, Australian Baroque, and WA Opera. They tour both regionally and internationally.

Schola Cantorum members receive a 35% remission of tuition fees and are expected to uphold the following requirements for the duration of their scholarship:

• maintain their level of commitment to all fundamental aspects of the Schola schedule;

• take Music as a class subject (year-long courses) and maintain a high level of achievement up until at least Year 10 (whilst they are strongly encouraged to enrol in ATAR Music in Year 11 and 12, it is not a requirement);

• be actively involved in Aquinas Music concerts, recitals, festivals, excursions and camps; and

• maintain good academic and behavioural standing across all areas of schooling.
