Earlier this year, Aquinas College was named an Excellence Awardee in the category of Innovation in Curriculum Design for the Australian Education Awards 2025, in recognition of the College’s pioneering and highly regarded myFUTURE program.
Aquinas myFUTURE is a contemporary and flexible Senior School learning framework designed to equip students with the skills, qualifications, personal attributes, and modern education needed to thrive in today’s evolving workforce and tertiary institutions. It offers a personalised, passion-driven, and self-paced learning journey that can include micro-credentials, university courses, combined pathways, internships, and workplace learning opportunities, empowering each student to shape their future with purpose and confidence.
Celebrated by students, parents, and educators alike, myFUTURE integrates academic rigour with practical experience, drawing on community partnerships, mentorship opportunities, and industry engagement. The program encourages boys to think critically, act with integrity, and embrace the College’s values of Faith, Justice and Excellence in all they do.
Principal Rob Henderson said the national recognition was a testament to the commitment and creativity of the Aquinas teaching staff:
“This award reflects the dedication of our educators to create an environment where every boy is prepared for the future – not just academically, but as a compassionate and capable young man. The myFUTURE program is a shining example of innovation serving a higher purpose.”
Representing Aquinas College at the award presentation in Sydney were Mr Brendan Chapman (Head of Teaching and Learning), Mr John Van Dyk (Head of Senior School), and Mr Peter Gellin (Director of myFUTURE). Our team returned inspired, having been recognised alongside some of the nation’s most innovative schools. They warmly congratulated the award winners and celebrated the opportunity to share the achievements of Aquinas College
While interstate, our representatives visited other leading schools to explore best practice in action. The experience reinforced our commitment to continually refining teaching approaches and classroom routines, ensuring the most effective environment for student learning. Engaging in professional dialogue with peers from across the country sparked new ideas, meaningful reflection and valuable insights into the opportunities and challenges facing contemporary education in Australia.
The prestigious Australian Education Awards celebrate outstanding achievements in the education sector across Australia, recognising schools and educators who demonstrate excellence, leadership, and innovation.
Being named an Excellence Awardee places Aquinas College among the leading schools in the nation, affirming its position as a forward-thinking institution supported by our strong Catholic faith and Edmund Rice tradition.
