For many students, an Aquinas education opens the door to opportunity, connection and lifelong growth. Through the generosity of our donor community, bursaries ensure these opportunities remain accessible to students and families who may otherwise face financial or geographical challenges.

Year 9 student Abel White knows this impact firsthand.

Before receiving support through the Reilly Family Bursary, Abel and his father travelled more than three hours each day between York and Aquinas College. This daily commitment placed a significant strain on the family and limited Abel’s ability to fully engage in school life.

Today, Abel is thriving as a boarder at Aquinas College. He enjoys fishing by the river, sharing his passion for football, and has found real enjoyment and strength in woodwork and metalwork.

There is a particular significance in Abel’s story. Raised on their family farm in Boyanup and sent to board at Aquinas College in Perth, the Reilly brothers were later only able to complete their education with the support of financial assistance.

Today, the Reilly Family Bursary reflects that lived experience, now supporting another regional student from York. It is a powerful example of an enduring cycle of generosity, community, and opportunity that continues to shape the College today.

This support has transformed more than the logistics of attending school. It has given Abel the space to fully immerse himself in College life, build meaningful friendships, participate more broadly in his education, and thrive within the Aquinas community.
